June 2026 - Nuggets - Administrator's Day

Whatever business interactions you have: be it a fabulous dining experience at a top-end restaurant, a service appointment to get your car repaired, or a week spent at an all-inclusive resort, when the whole experience rolls out seamlessly and without disappointment, it seems so simple, so natural. But none of that happens without an exceptional network of back-end staff working tirelessly behind the scenes. The corporate administrators. Business owners realize how important their team of professionals is. And how important it is to let them know they are valued and appreciated. How to do that is sometimes the challenge. Society has set aside one day a year to do just that. Administrator's Day. And it’s important. Right up there with Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. One day to honour the people who so positively impact our lives. Traditionally, Administrator's Day falls in April, but because many of our past Administrator's Day functions have involved outdoor events, here at RE/MAX Garden City Realty, we generally celebrate the occasion in June. Over the years, our Administrator's Day has taken a number of formats. Back when we had our Burlington/Waterdown divisions, we would often pick some common location, such as The Old Mill in Ancaster or Stage West in Mississauga, and all arrive via limo for the combined dinner celebrations. More recently, with our Niagara offices, we have celebrated the event in the backyard of Wayne and Debbie’s home with a themed party reflecting a recent trip. We’ve had Mexican, Italian, Greek, Chinese, Thai, Turkish, and Western, to name just a few. This year, because the most recent trip abroad for the Broker was a Mediterranean cruise and because that found expressions in a Christmas dinner and stockings, we decided to revert back to an afternoon/evening dining event at one of the area’s very lovely destinations. Edgewater Manor in Stoney Creek. The event began about 3:30 pm in the afternoon with the limo arriving at our St. Catharines office, where most of our staff had gathered. This involved an early closure of our offices, but our agents realizing the importance of the event, and the staff involved were enthusiastically supportive. With a brief stop at our Grimsby office to pick up the lovely Jillian and Cindy, who, by the way, will celebrate 29 years with the company this year, we were soon on the last leg of our trip The Edgewater Manor is an amazing place. It began in life as one man’s dream of creating his own personal castle, but over the years, with the great depression and tough economic times, it sat vacant for significant periods of time. Today, it is structurally completed, restored and developed into a magnificent restaurant situated on manicured grounds right on Lake Ontario. The day was gorgeous. Bright and sunny. And so, we began with drinks out on the lawn overlooking Lake Ontario. From there, we went inside and upstairs to a private dining room once again with a view of the Lake and ideally sized for our group. Rather than an event menu, we were able to order off the dinner menu, and at the Edgewater, that means getting to choose from a selection of very delicious options. And with staff from Grimsby and Fonthill, as well as St. Catharines, we don’t always have an opportunity to all get together, so this event gave us a wonderful chance to mingle and kibitz together. We indeed have an amazing administrative staff, each extremely talented in their own right. They do a fabulous job of supporting the agents at RE/MAX Garden City Realty. Making the home buying and selling process smooth and pleasurable for agents and consumers alike. And they do it all seamlessly and behind the scenes. We get to celebrate them once a year, but believe me, they are appreciated all year long. They are the best.
